Full Time R.E.C.E.'s and Teacher Assistants

Looking for FULL-TIME dynamic, engaging, nurturing R.E.C.E's  and Teacher Assistants for 2015/16 school year:

We are looking for full-time R.E.C.E.'s and Teacher Assistants at BOTH our licensed facilities: The Gorman Shore Childhood Education Centre, part of the Schwartz/Reisman Centre situated on the Lebovic Campus, Bathurst/Lebovic Drive in Vaughan and The David and Esther Freiman Childhood Education Centre, part of the Prosserman JCC, situated on the Sherman Campus, Bathurst/Sheppard area in Toronto. Our Centre's provide a unique and state-of-the art curriculum built upon Jewish values and traditions. Every learning experience is designed to meet one or more of the child’s areas of development: social and emotional, cognitive physical and cultural needs.

The SUCCESSFUL R.E.C.E.'s and assistants will have PROVEN SUCCESS and a POSITIVE TRACK RECORD in best practices relating to:
•    Meeting the physical, social and emotional needs of the children in your care
•    Direct supervision of the children, substitute teachers and volunteers in the classroom
•    Daily program planning using curriculum guides and resources distributed by Daycare Director
•    Ability to positively manage the classroom
•    Classroom set up and arrangement
•    Record keeping including daily class attendance in compliance with daycare policy and procedure
•    Writing of student reports and communicating student progress in parent/teacher conferences
•    Lesson plans submitted weekly
•    Participation in Judaic activities
•    Written, electronic and verbal communication with families
•    Attending staff meetings & required training  scheduled outside of normal working hours

•    Enthusiasm, a love of working with children and a passion for teaching
•    At least 2 years experience in the childcare field in Ontario
•    Knowledge of Jewish life, traditions, culture and Israel is a must; as well as an ability to integrate these concepts appropriately in the daycare/preschool/afterschool program content
•    Early Childhood Educational Diploma; must be in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE)
•    Excellent language skills in English or Hebrew: communication, writing, reading
•    Criminal record check, Child abuse registry check
•    Immunization records, Tuberculosis test
•    Experience in the non-profit sector/ JCC environment an asset
•    Outstanding interpersonal skills: great attitude and ability to build relationships, a positive “can-do’ attitude
•    Solutions-based problem solving and ability to multi-task
•    Punctual, responsible and dependable
•    Teacher Assistants will possess the same skills as the above without the R.E.C.E. certification

R.E.C.E.'s and Teacher Assistants must be available to work a nine hour shift between 7:00a.m. and 6:00p.m. on Lebovic Campus and an eight hour shift between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Sherman Campus - both Mon-Fri year round.
