The magnificent Schwartz/Reisman Centre recently opened on the Joseph & Wolf Lebovic Jewish Community Campus at 9600 Bathurst Street, Vaughan, is dedicated to serving the community’s cultural, educational, fitness, social, spiritual and recreational needs. From tots to teens, young adults to seniors, there is something for everyone! The SRC’s programs, services and employment opportunities are guided by Jewish values and are open to all, regardless of race, ethnic origin or religious affiliation.


The Schwartz/Reisman Centre Daycare, Preschool and Afterschool is licensed for 231 children ages 4 weeks-12 years old and provides a unique and state-of-the art curriculum built upon Jewish values and traditions. Every learning experience is designed to meet one or more of the child’s areas of development: social and emotional, cognitive physical and cultural needs.


The SUCCESSFUL J.K. TEACHER will have PROVEN SUCCESS and a POSITIVE TRACK RECORD in best practices relating to:

  • Meeting the physical, social and emotional needs of the children in your care
  • Direct supervision of the children, substitute teachers and volunteers in the classroom
  • Daily program planning using curriculum and resources distributed by Daycare Director and following the Ontario J.K. curriculum
  • Ability to positively manage the classroom
  • Classroom set up and arrangement
  • Record keeping including daily class attendance in compliance with daycare policy and procedure
  • Writing of student reports and communicating student progress in parent/teacher conferences
  • Lesson plans submitted weekly
  • Participation in Judaic activities
  • Written, electronic and verbal communication with families
  • Attending staff meetings & required training  scheduled outside of normal working hours



  • B.Ed Ontario Certification
  • Enthusiasm, a love of working with children and a passion for teaching
  • At least 2 years experience in the childcare field in Ontario
  • Knowledge of Jewish life, traditions, culture and Israel is a must; as well as an ability to integrate these concepts appropriately in the daycare/preschool/afterschool program content
  • R.E.C.E. an asset but not required
  • Excellent English language skills: oral communication, writing, reading, email
  • Hebrew/Russian an asset but not required
  • Criminal record check, Child abuse registry check, Immunization records, Tuberculosis test
  • Experience in the non-profit sector/ JCC environment an asset
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills: great attitude and ability to build relationships, a positive “can-do’ attitude
  • Solutions-based problem solving and ability to multi-task
  • Punctual, responsible and dependable
  • Able to work a 9 hour shift between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Mon-Fri
  • A warm, friendly, helpful, team focused and positive disposition
