Why Build The Bridge of Hope?Posted on Mar 13, 2013 11:05am
The Bridge of Hope honours the legacies of the Mutual Benefit Societies. These groups of people arrived in Canada with nothing yet helped each other and the greater Jewish community by establishing Toronto’s earliest Jewish institutions. UJA Federation honors these values by continuing the important tradition of building and caring for the community.
As we look forward to the re-development of Sherman Campus, which will include the building of infrastructure for the present and future Jewish community, it’s important to recognize the diligent work and commitments made by these earlier groups.
The funds raised from the Societies for the Bridge of Hope will go towards breaking ground on our new building. The bridge will recognize their philanthropy and commitment to the community for the past hundred years, but their collective financial contribution for the Bridge of Hope is part of the Tomorrow Campaign’s fundraising efforts which will be used for the building of our new Campus.
